John Hastings has been performing stand up all over his native Canada since 2006. Since winning the 2010 Irwin Barker Canadian Homegrown Championship at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, he has been nominated for a Canadian Comedy award in the category of Best Newcomer and was named one of the five “comedians to watch” by the Canadian Comedy Network. He was the youngest featured performer at the 2011 Winnipeg Comedy Festival and was the youngest and only Canadian finalist of the 2011 San Francisco International Comedy Festival. His stand up comedy special was chosen to be the last ever, on the 15-show run of Canada’s only stand up comedy showcase program “Comedy Now.” After 6 years John also won the prestigious COCA Comedian of the year award for 2012. Now his comedic pursuits take him to the United Kingdom and he nervously okay with being here.
Caroline Mabey’s stand-up combines eccentric charm and mischievous banter with strong gags. She is an experienced compere, is resident MC at the 99 Club in London and hosted the 2010 British Animation Awards at the BFI (previous hosts include Jeremy Hardy and Joe Pasquale).
Her three solo shows “One Minute Silence” (2011) “Eat Your Friends” (2010) and “Caroline Mabey’s Go Go Go Coffee Show!” (2009) have been big hits with audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe, as has her onscreen animated sidekick, Kip the Coffeepot. She is also an accomplished character and sketch comedian, occasionally appearing as her grotesque creation Helen Heels: “A demented hybrid of Alan Partridge and Fawlty Towers” Evening Standard, Critic’s Choice “The slightly deranged offspring of a menage a trois between Vic Reeves, Harry Hill and Floella Benjamin” Evening Standard “Fabulous off the wall lines… will endure in the memory long after you’ve forgotten every word from the big-name stand-ups.” Steve Bennett, Chortle “Kooky, quirky and delicious” Time Out
