Twice as Nice Comedy @ Grove, Hammersmith Sunday 29 September: Christian Reilly & Trodd En Bratt

Christian Reilly

Christian first moved into the world of comedy as Otis Lee Crenshaw’s [Rich Hall] guitar-wielding sidekick – a job which took him from Nottingham to Nashville, Tennessee. Now an international comedian playing all the major comedy venues, Christian blends stand-up with dynamic guitar/vocal abilities to relate his unique experience with a sharp wit, youthful energy and effortless charm – with the occasional snipe at histrionic rock bands, musical theatre and morose indie musicians. He has written for and appeared on two series of ’That Was Then This Is Now’ (BBC Radio 2) as musical counterpart to Richard Herring and Emma Kennedy as well as giving his improvisation skills a regular outing on Rowland Rivron’s ’Jammin’ (BBC Radio 2) with Kim Wilde and Hazel O’ Connor. So far in 2007, Christian has hosted the Nottingham Live Music Weekend, (sharing the bill with The Magic Numbers, Just Jack and Cherry Ghost) and has appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival, The Liverpool Comedy Festival, Latitude Festival and has just finished a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe with his first solo show, How To Rock. A third series of “That Was Then, This Is Now” is scheduled for the autumn. “Seriously cool, seriously funny- the power behind my high-backed armchair” Richard Herring “If you’re a fan of Bill Bailey or Rich Hall, you’re probably a Christian Reilly fan already” Guardian

Trodd En Bratt

In 2007 Lucy Trodd and Ruth Bratt met on the improvised comedy circuit. Fate united them as founder members of a new group, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, which has received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008, 09, 10 and 11, and has acquired a cult following with its weekly performances at The King’s Head, Islington and most recently in the West End at The Ambassdors Theatre, as well as touring the UK and internationally. “the duo are a delight to watch: totally at ease while sparring with one another entertainingly… extravagantly silly…. Abundant sense of fun.” The Guardian “well-paced and occasionally uproarious character sketch show; a pot pourri of the weird, the wonderful and the downright demented, held together by winning onstage chemistry” The Metro ****

With Dane Baptiste: Amused Moose New Act Competition Finalist 2012 “Dane Baptiste promises great things – smart, slick & a box full of attitude – with the talent to back it all up” Rebecca Papworth, Former BBC Comedy Commissioner Plus Sy Thomas, William Lee, Sunna Jarman, Sahar Mirhadi & MC Sam Deards “Bloody funny and very charming – highly recommended” Mark Dolan C4 Balls of Steel
