Fresh from a very successful run at Edinburgh Fringe, already a weekly nights in Hammersmith and following a cracking full house opening night, Twice as Nice Comedy comes back to OSO with a mixture of big name T.V. and up-and-coming comedians.
Jigsaw: In 2011, established comedians Dan Antopolski (Triple Perrier Award Nominee), Tom Craine (Times Top 5) and Nat Luurtsema (Chortle Nominee) combined their unique styles of comedy to form the sketch group Jigsaw. Their first live show, Jigsaw, was a sell-out and took the 2011 Edinburgh Festival by storm with a clutch of four and five star reviews. Following this success, Jigsaw have performed around the country and can be heard headlining BBC Radio 4’s Sketchorama. They are also series regulars on BBC3’s primetime series Live At The Electric hosted by Russell Kane. “Full-pelt sketch comedy from performers who radiate enjoyment and ease with a crowd… Makes The Fast Show look languid.” Guardian “Sigh-inducingly satisfying… packed with gags… Their rapport is natural and infectious… a very funny and consistently high-quality show. It’s often silly, but the writing is very smart indeed.” British Comedy Guide
Will Franken: Franken’s humor is rooted in the British sketch comedy tradition, notably Monty Python. Onstage, he portrays an eclectic mix of characters through a series of interconnected vignettes. His skits are often satirical, skewering a range of subcultures and political views, often absurdist. In 2005, Franken was selected Best Comedian by the SF Weekly; Best Alternative to Psychedelic Drugs by the San Francisco Bay Guardian; and one of the Top 25 People to Watch nationwide by tribe.net. In late 2007, Franken was first runner-up for the Andy Kaufman Award competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Franken made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2012 with his show “Things We Did Before Reality” produced by Michael Blaha and Paul Provenza. Provenza had discovered Franken at a small theatre in Los Angeles a few years earlier. At Edinburgh, Franken received four star reviews from The Scotsman, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times, The Times of London, Chortle.com and five star reviews from Spoonfed and Three Weeks. The British Comedy Guide named his show as one of the fifteen best reviewed shows of the entire festival. “What elevates Mr. Franken above your garden-variety comedian is an erudite wit and a highly developed sense of the absurd ” The New York Times “You can’t take your eyes off these inspired outpourings.” Guardian
